Aleksandr Prudnikov was born on February 24, 1989 in Smolensk, the Soviet Union. He currently plays as a striker for Premier League side Rubin Kazan.
Aleksandr started his football career with the reserve squad of FC Spartak Moscow and in 2007 he made his debut for the first team of the club. The debut came on April 8, 2007 in a Premier League game against FC Luch Vladvostok where the forward came on in the 78th minute and soon gave his team a 2-1 lead by making a well-placed left-footed shot on the 86th minute of the match. During his first season in Spartak Prudnikov featured in 12 games and netted 2 goals.
In March 2009, the footballer signed a loan deal with FC Terek Grozny, but in July he made another loan move to Sparta Prague, the contract with which was broken half a year later for the Czech club was not satisfied with Aleksandr’s performance. In March 2010, the striker was loaned to FC Tom Tomsk where he featured in 6 games, and in August returned to FC Spartak where got shortlisted for the team’s UEFA Champions League lineup but still did not manage to feature in a single match of the tournament. In March 2011, Prudnikov joined Anzhi on loan and in August the club from Makhachkala bought the footballer out.
In September 2012, the striker signed a contract with FC Kuban Krasnodar and on September 9, he made his debut for the new squad coming on as a substitute on the 71st minute of the Russian Premier League game against FC Spartak Moscow.
However, after only 2 matches for the club Prudnikov moved to struggling Alania Vladikavkaz.
Half a year later he switched for Rubin Kazan.
As an international player Aleksandr Prudnikov was one of the main stars of the Russsia U-17 national football team that won the 2006 UEFA U-17 Championship and took part in the 2011 European Under-21 Championship qualification, where he featured in 4 games. Besides, the striker also represented the European Selection U-18 in the 2007 UEFA-CAF Meridian Cup and scored 2 goals in 2 matches. In 2011 Prudnikov was called up for the Russia-2 national team for the first time.
