Perhaps, it is difficult to find either an Italian or world football fan who should not know Alessandro. It would be very hard to think of a player more faithful and experienced. It is no coincidence Del Piero is considered the symbol of Juventus as he tops the club’s most appearances list.
Despite his age, Alessandro’s playing level is very high and his scoring skills may serve a source of envy even for the best players of modern football. Among the old formation players who are far beyond their 30s Alessandro is the highest paid player.
Alessandro grew in a family not well-off; his father was an ordinary electrician who passed away in 2001. His elder brother was a professional footballer as well, played for top clubs of the Italian league but had to finish his career after a major injury. Del Piero played his first professional match for a junior team from Padua where he was educated at a school. In his first season he performed phenomenally and made the country’s best clubs pay attention to him.
In 1993 the young talent became of interest to Milan and Juventus simultaneously and Del Piero chose the Turin club while his academy received 2 mln dollars for his transfer. Throughout his entire football career Alessandro played for Juventus and never thought of changing the club.
Perhaps, one of the few modern player who have remained faithful to a single club. When Alessandro turned 30 everyone began speaking about him ending the career. Despite all the talks and his “senior” football age, Del Piero did not finish and leave his team at the moment when it was charged due to the corruption scandal.
From 1993 to 2012 Alessandro made 705 appearances for Juventus, scored 289 goals and won numerous trophies.
In 2012 the legendary player penned a two-year deal with an Australian side Sydney.
Del Piero played for Italy national team since 1995 to 2008 and won 2006 World Cup.
