Alex Baptiste is a defender, born on 31 January 1986 in Sutton-in-Ashfield, England.
In 2002, Alex graduated from the academy of Mansfield Town and joined the main squad of the club the same year. The footballer trained with the team during several months and went on loan to Tamworth, where he made four appearances during half a year. In January 2004, Baptiste sealed a temporary deal with Burton Albion and took part in three fixtures for the club during the second half of the 2003/2004 season.
After returning to Mansfield Town, the defender drew the attention of the head coach, who decided to turn Alex’s talent and skills to account. The footballer was given a place in the starting XI, and he showed impressing performance at once, which made him one of anchor players. Baptiste featured in 174 matches and netted five goals for Mansfield Town during six years.
In 2008, English side Blackpool lodged a tempting bid for the defender, which was accepted. The both parties agreed Alex’s transfer in short term, and the footballer put pen to paper of a new contract in the summer the same year. Baptiste made 170 appearances and fired eight goals for ‘The Seasiders’.
In the summer 2013 Baptiste switched for Bolton Wanderers and later on was loaned to Blackburn Rovers.
