A Spanish footballer Alejandro Grimaldo García acts as a defender for Barcelona B. Grimaldo was born on 20 September 1995 in Valencia.
Alejandro’s junior career started at the local club Valencia, where he began his academy studies in 2006. Grimaldo proved to be of exceptional stamina, which helped him to become one of the youth team’s pivots of the defense. The footballer was a highly-rated teenager in the club’s youth team, when he was scouted by the promoted Barcelona, for whom he started to play in 2008. He was 13, when he joined the club’s youth ranks. The youth team’s head coach considered Alejandro to be a very potential player, so he gave him every chance to take an active part in fixtures for the junior team.
In 2011, the defender earned the promotion to the reserve team of Barcelona. His debut for the senior side took place on 4 September 2011 in a game with FC Cartagena. Alejandro became the youngest footballer ever to perform in a Segunda División match. He’s already made more than 15 appearances for the squad.
In 2011, Grimaldo earned his first cap for the Spain national youth squad at U-16 level. He also scored one goal in 8 matches for the U-17 team. In 2012, the defender was invited to play for the U-19 squad. Alejandro formed the part of the Spanish side that won the 2012 UEFA U-19 Championship.
