Alex MacDonald is a forward of Burton Albion. He was born on 14 April 1990 in Warrington, England.
In 2006, Alex joined the academy of Burnley and started to perform for the junior squad, which helped him to get his initial playing practice and get ready for a professional level. The footballer perfected his key skills and penned his first senior contract with the club in 2008. However, his appearances on the pitch were rather rare, because MacDonald had to gain more experience in order to compete for a place in the starting line-up.
In 2009, he went on loan to Falkirk and took part in 11 fixtures for the team during his spell. After returning to his parent Burnley, the forward trained with the main squad, but failed to become a regular. In 2011, Alex sealed a temporary deal with Inverness Caledonian Thistle and featured in ten games for the club during the second half of the 2010/2011 season.
In January 2012, the footballer completed a loan move to Plymouth Argyle and netted four goals in 18 matches, which drew the attention of the team’s management. In August the same year, MacDonald re-joined Plymouth on temporary basis and fired one goal in 16 fixtures by December.
After returning to his parent Burnley, the forward took his tally to 11 appearances as of January 2013. Later on MacDonald joined Burton Albion.
From 2008 till 2012, Alex was capped 14 times and contributed eight goals for the Scotland national U-19 and U-21 squads.
