Alex Sandro is a defender of Porto. He was born on 26 January 1991 in Catanduva, Brazil.
In 2008 Sandro started his professional career signing a contract with Atlético Paranaense. During two final years of his youth career Alex was trained at the academy of this club. He became one of its best products which allowed him to pass to the main team. Since 2008 Sandro made several appearances for Atlético Paranaense but his starts were so rare that he couldn’t fully develop his skills during his two-year spell with this club.
In 2010 the footballer prompted interest from Santos. The Brazilian club sealed a long-term deal with Sandro. The 2010/2011 season did a lot of good to Alex because the head coach included him in the starting line-up from the very beginning. During one season Sandro netted once in 31 games for Santos. One season was enough for him to catch the eye of different European outfits.
Porto was informed that the defender was available for transfer so the Portuguese club entered into the negotiations. It took some time for the parties to discuss the transfer price and in the summer 2011 they finally reached an agreement. In the summer 2011 Alex penned a contract with Porto which runs until now (as on May 2012). Nowadays the head coach doesn’t give Sandro a chance to become the key defender however he sometimes includes the Brazilian footballer in the starting eleven so that he can feel confident on the pitch.
In 2011 Alex Sandro featured in 10 games for the Brazil U-20 national side. In 2011 he was called up 2 times to the Brazil national football team.
