A footballer Alexander Abraham Zahavi, aka Alex, was born on 21 January 1991 in Los Angeles.
He started trying his hand at football, when he was 7. In 1998, he entered the academy of Hapoel Haifa. In 1999, his family moved to Lisbon, so that Alex would be able to continue his trainings. There he was drafted into the youth department of Benfica. He was noticed by Arsenal and invited to London. After all the preliminary tests were passed successfully, a two-year contract was penned.
In 2005, Zahavi moved to Spain, where he performed for the youth team of Barcelona. After he had spent three years with the Spanish club he was offered to extend the contract for another 7 years. But the footballer opted to join Sporting from Portugal, where the last three years of his junior career passed.
In 2010, after he had graduated from the academy of the Portuguese club, Alex moved to Israel, where he penned a contract with Maccabi Haifa. Hardly had he joined the main team, when he was loaned out by Hapoel Acre. He spent the rest of the 2010/2011 season playing for the temporary squad. He made 10 appearances for the team.
In the summer 2011, two important events happened. The first one was the extension of the contract with Hapoel Haifa and the second one was loan to Vitória de Setúbal. His next season would find Alex serving loan at Olhanense.
The footballer was born on the territory of the USA, his mother is a Portuguese, and his father is an Israeli. That’s why at the international level Alex could represent any of the enumerated countries. In 2007, Zahavi represented the Portugal U-17 team. He netted 3 goals in 3 matches for the national youth team. In November 2010, the player was invited to represent the United States U-20 team. He appeared 2 times and scored one goal for the squad. In 2011, Alex became a member of the Israel U-21 squad.
