Alexander Gerndt is a striker of Utrecht. He was born on 14 July 1986 in Visby, Sweden.
Alexander’s youth career took off in local Visby IF Gute, where the footballer trained in the academy till he managed to clinch a place in the main team.
In 2004, Gerndt penned a two-year contract with the club and started to make occasional appearances. However, after gaining playing practice, the striker was given an opportunity to come on the pitch in the starting XI more often. Alexander made 39 appearances and found the net nine times for Visby IF Gute during two seasons.
In 2007, the footballer moved to AIK, but did not enjoy the head coach’s trust and managed to take part only in five fixtures during one year. In January 2008, Gerndt went on loan to IK Sirius and netted six goals in 14 matches for the temporary team.
In the summer 2008, the striker completed a move to Gefle IF, where he showed inexpressive performance and made occasional appearances. The following season was much more successful for Alexander, who amassed 11 goals in 47 games for the club during two seasons.
In the summer 2010, the footballer transferred to Helsingborgs IF and became the anchor player of the team almost at once. The head coach’s tactics and rotations did a lot of good to Gerndt, who fired 19 goals in 31 matches during one year.
In the summer 2011, Dutch side Utrecht took an interest in the striker and secured his services on a four-year deal. Alexander’s maiden Eredivisie appearance came on 14 August in the 2-2 draw with De Graafschap.
In 2013 the Swede joined the Swiss club Young Boys.
From 2010, the footballer has been capped eight times and contributed two goals for the Sweden national team.
