Pato’s youth career started in 2000, when he entered Internacional youth academy. For 6 years Alexandre was a favorite of Internacional youth teams’ coaches. Pato was an undeniably talented and most perspective young striker, and eventually was offered to join Internacional senior squad.
In 2006, aged only 16, Pato signed for S.C. Internacional. Despite the fact that he was yet an inexperienced player, Alexandre Pato surpassed all expectations. During the 2006/07 season Pato attracted much attention, first of all with due to his inclusion to the national squad participating in 2006 World Cup and for breaking Pelé’s record of being the youngest player to score in a Mundial.
During the 2007 summer transfer window, Pato received numerous contract offers from the top European clubs, and in August 2007 European champions A.C. Milan signed the young Brazilian, paying Internacional nearly 24 million euros for his move. After the transfer, Alexandre trained actively with the club’s first team and as a result was included in the starting lineup. Starting from 2007, Alexandre Pato appeared in 117 matches and netted 51 goals for AC Milan.
In January 2013 an injury-prone player was released from AC Milan for 15 million euro and joined world club champions Corinthians.
In 2007 Pato played 12 matches for the Brazilian U-20 and scored 8 goals. In 2008 Alexandre was a part of the Brazilian U-23, where he scored 2 goals. Since 2008 Pato has been a regular striker of the Brazil national football team, with 19 appearances and 7 goals.
