Alexei Eremenko is an attacking midfielder, born on 24 March, 1983 in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. He now holds Finnish citizenship. Alexei is a long-time leader of the Finnish national team.
Early in his career Eremenko played 5 matches for French Metz. From 2001 to 2004, he defended the colors of Finnish Jokerit and HJK. In 2004 Alexei joined Italian Lecce, where he started 35 matches, but didn’t score goals. After that, Eremenko moved to FC Saturn on a 3-year permanent deal. There Alexei quickly became a mainstay and scored 8 goals in 76 appearances. His goal against Dynamo Moscow was recognized as the best goal of Russian Premier League in 2007.
In 2009 Eremenko concluded a contract with Metalist Kharkiv, but couldn’t gain a foothold in the first team. Alexei Eremenko played as a legionnaire in Finland and Scotland, until signing a permanent deal with Rubin Kazan in 2011. Eremenko only featured in 7 matches during 2 seasons and was transferred to Kairat Almaty in the summer 2013. Half a year later Eremenko moved back to a Scottish side Kilmarnock.
Eremenko has played for Finnish national team since 2003, with a total of 59 caps and 14 goals.
