Almen Abdi is a midfielder of Watford. He was born on 21 October 1986 in Prizren, Kosovo.
Almen’s youth career took off in the academy of Zürich, where the footballer performed for the junior squad and took part in various competitions.
In 2003, Abdi was offered to pen a senior contract with the club. The midfielder was very happy to have such an opportunity, and he accepted the offer without hesitation. Almen made several starts during his début season and managed to become the pivot of the team with the lapse of time. The footballer amassed 31 goals in 132 fixtures for Zürich during six years.
In 2009, Abdi drew the attention of Ligue 2 side Le Mans, which lodged a tempting bid for the midfielder and offered him a lucrative contract. The same year, Almen sealed a deal with the new club and made 15 appearances in the 2009/2010 season.
In 2010, the footballer was invited to play in Italy. His services were secured by Udinese on a long-term deal. Abdi started to come on the pitch on a regular basis at once and took part in 42 matches for the team till July 2012, when he finalized a loan move to English side Watford. The midfielder featured in 38 games and found the net 12 times for the temporary club. At the end of the loan spell Adbi signed a permanent contract with the club.
From 2007 till 2008, Almen was capped five times for the Switzerland national U-21 squad. From 2008, the footballer took part in six fixtures for the senior national team.
