A Spanish footballer Álvaro Mejía Pérez plays as a central defender for Ergotelis. Álvaro was born on 18 January 1982 in Madrid.
Mejía started his junior career at the department of Laz Rozas, where he was selected to play for the U-13 squad. He spent five years at the club’s disposal earning his first performing experience. In 1998, the defender was noticed by Real Madrid and after passing all the tests he entered the youth academy, where he finished his formation. During the last years of his junior career Álvaro started to get more playing time, which, definitely, helped to improve his game and get ready to start a senior career.
In 2001, the footballer joined the C team of Real Madrid, where he spent a year and moved to the B team. Mejía spent two seasons performing for the reserves. He made 49 appearances during the spell. In the summer 2004, Álvaro was promoted to the club’s main team. Three years with the squad were lined with one goal netted in 40 matches.
In 2007, the defender joined Murcia, where he immediately became the team’s regular player. In total, he made 100 appearances and netted four goals. In 2011, Mejía moved to Turkey, where he performed for Konyaspor. Before this had happened, the footballer spent the 2010/2011 season playing for Arles-Avignon. The 2011/2012 season was lined with 40 appearances made for the Turkish side.
In 2012, Álvaro got a tempting proposal from Almeria. The footballer penned the contract and became the club’s official member. He appeared in 26 matches and switched for a Greek side Ergotelis.
