Álvaro Rubio Robres is a Spanish football player. He currently plays for Real Valladolid on the position of a defensive midfielder.
He was born in 1979 and started his professional career in Zaragoza’s reserve team.
In January 2000 he was loaned by Albacete Balompié and soon he joined them on a long-term basis. He was the team’s very important player. Having played 25 games in the 2002/03 season Albacete progressed to La Liga. That was the team’s first success for seven years.
Álvaro Rubio made his debut in October 2003 in a 2–3 loss against Real Betis. He appeared in 50 more matches until June 2005, when the team was relegated.
In 2006 he moved to Real Valladolid and during his debut campaign the club was promoted to the top division. In the following seasons he hardly missed a game. He scored his first goal for the team on 28 October 2007 against CA Osasuna.
During the 2009/10 season he appeared only in 16 games and the team relegated to the second division after three years in the top division.
