Álvaro Vázquez García is a Spanish football player.
In 2005 Vázquez aged 14 became a part of the youth system of RCD Espanyol. As soon as the striker finished his training at the football academy he was offered to play for Espanyol B. Soon he was promoted to the first team of the Catalan club.
His first match in the Primera took place on 21 September 2010 as he substituted Sergio García in a 0-3 home defeat against Real Madrid. The next weekend was more successful for the youngster as he scored his first official goal for Espanyol in a fixture where the Catalan club encountered Osasuna. This made the coach leave the striker in stock for the rest of the season as he served a good backup in case something happened to the starter Pablo Osvaldo.
When the Argentine moved out Mauricio Pochettino made Vázquez a starter. In January 2012 Álvaro showed fantastic efficiency heading a late equalizer in a derby against Barcelona at Camp Nou. Then in only four days he netted a hat-trick against Córdoba in Copa del Rey.
The player was purchased by Getafe CF in the summer of 2012. After 29 appearances for the side the player switched for Swansea City.
Álvaro Vázquez was a part of the U-20 squad taking part in the World Cup in Colombia. There he became the second best goal scorer finding the back of the net 5 times throughout the tournament and leading his team towards quarterfinals.
Vázquez was also capped for the U-21 and made seven appearances with one goal for the side and for the U-23 team where he appeared three times scoring twice, with both goals in a friendly against Egypt.
