An Egyptian footballer Amr Zaki is a striker, currently a free agent. He was born on 1 April 1983 in Mansoura. He is known for being a great header.
Amr’s the product of the youth system of the native El Mansoura. The footballer debuted as a professional footballer being the member of that club. His career at Mansoura would span for almost 3 years, since he first entered them in 2001. In 2003, Zaki moved to ENPPI. He managed a fabulous spell with the club becoming the Egyptian Premier League top scorer and helping the squad to gain the victory in the 2005 Egyptian Cup. His team also became the runners-up in the Egyptian Premier League.
In 2006, Amr produced a magnificent performance in the African Cup of Nations. After such a success he was noticed by many clubs. Zaki preferred to become the part of the Russian Lokomotiv Moscow. A year-long contract was penned for a fee of €1.7 million. Nevertheless, the striker got no opportunity to play for the first team. That’s why he agreed to join Zamalek. In 2006, a deal was finalized and the footballer became the club’s official member. In total, he made 88 appearances scoring 35 goals. During the spell, the striker was loaned out two times. In 2008, he served a year-long loan at Wigan Athletic. He managed a good season with the temporary side appearing 32 times and netting 11 goals. In 2010, the footballer defended Hull City for a short period of time. At the beginning of the 2010/2011, Amr was welcomed back to Zamalek. Hardly had he returned to the squad, when he gave an impressive performance turning into the club’s top scorer after netting three times in the first four matches. His fabulous game helped the squad to reach the final in the Egypt Cup. However, Zamalek faced up with some financial problems and a successful footballer opted to leave the club. In the summer 2012, a transfer to the Turkish side Elazığspor happened. Amr debuted for the new team in a match against Kasimpasa SK.
The player’s contract was terminated in the winter 2012 and after a short spell with Egyptian ENPPI Amr Zaki became a free agent.
Zaki’s international career started in 2004, when he was selected to perform for the Egyptian full side. In 2006, that was Amr who netted the winning goal in the 2006 African Cup of Nations in the match against Senegal. Additionally, he won the 2008 African Nations Cup being nominated for the 2008 CAF African Footballer of the Year. He was also named in the CAF Starting Eleven in the African Nations Cup. He’s already made more than 60 appearances for the national team.
