Anderson Oliveira is a midfielder, born on 13 April 1988 in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
His youth career began in 1993, when Anderson joined the Grêmio football academy. During 11 years the young midfielder took part in the youth team matches and was several times called the best trainee of the system according to the coaches.
In 2004 the player was offered the first professional contract in his life. Anderson was glad to have a chance to play in the Brazilian professional football and, moreover, for the native club, where he could feel safe at an initial stage. In 2004/2005 Oliveira regularly performed in the first team, made 19 appearances and scored six goals.
In 2006 Anderson moved to Porto. The signing was completed in January 2006; the Portuguese club paid €7 million. In 2006/2007 Oliveira did not take part in every match, but in spite of that, his development helped to attract the attention of leading European teams.
In 2007 the English side Manchester United decided to buy the Brazilian player in order to refresh and consolidate its midfield. Moreover, Anderson could both support defense and continue an attack and he showed it many times during his matches. After the footballer had joined Porto, the transfer cost rose to €30 million and the English club paid that sum for the young Brazilian player. He was not a pivot of the club who took part in every match, but the head coach always let him play if there was such opportunity. From 2007 Oliveira made 179 appearances for the club and contributed nine goals.
Having failed to become an integral part of the squad, Anderson moved to Fiorentina on loan in 2014.
From 2005 till 2008, Anderson was capped 17 times for the Brazil national youth teams and netted eight goals. From 2007 he took part in eight matches of the senior national team.
