A Portuguese footballer André Filipe Aguiar Dias plays as a left defender for Rio Ave. He was born on 18 April 1992 in Torre de Moncorvo.
In 2004, André entered the academy of Torre Moncorvo, after all the preliminary tests had been passed successfully. After a year of trainings he was noticed by the scouts from Vitória Guimarães. He was drafted into the club’s youth department and studied there during two years. He was a highly-rated teenager in Vitória’s youth squad, when he was scouted by promoted Benfica, for whom he trained over two seasons. In the summer 2011, Dias penned his first professional contract with Rio Ave, where the last year of his junior career had passed. Due to the lack of playing experience at the senior level, André made only 5 appearances in his debut season. But that didn’t disappoint the footballer, as he understood that the place in the starting line-up isn’t to be given at once. He continues to perform for the team up till now.
From 2008 to 2012 André represented the Portugal national team at U-17, U-19 and U-20 levels. He managed to make 11 appearances for the squad.
