André Marques is a Portuguese defender who currently plays for FC Sion in the Swiss Super League. He was born on 1 August 1987 in Laceiras, Portugal.
André played as a youth for Almada in the 1999/2000 season before joining the youth system of Sporting Clube de Portugal in 2000. In five years he was promoted to the first team but played only three professional games in a debut 2005/06 season as Sporting CP sent Marques on loan to Olivais Moscavide to gain more experience. In between 2007 and 2009, he played on loan at such Portuguese clubs as União Leiria, Freamunde and Vitória Setúbal. Due to his solid performances in temporary clubs, Marques was called back to Sporting CP for the 2009/10 season where he made three UEFA Champions League appearances in qualifiers against FC Twente and ACF Fiorentina.
In the 2010, campaign, the new coach Paulo Sérgio sent the Portuguese player on loan once again, this time to a Greek club Iraklis Thessaloniki. However, after only one game for the side, Marques moved on loan to Beira-Mar. In 2012, the defender signed a permanent deal with a Swiss top club Sion where he plays today.
In 2007, André Marques earned 4 international caps to the Portugal U20 team. In 2009, he was called up once to the U21 squad.
