A Portuguese footballer André Renato Soares Martins plays as a central defender for Sporting. He was born on 21 January 1990 in Santa Maria da Feira.
In 1999 the footballer started trying his hand at football at Argoncilhe, where he trained during a year. In 2000, André moved to Feirense, where he was groomed during two years. In 2002, he was invited to the youth department of Sporting CP. The last years of his junior career passed there. In 2009, the management of his club offered him a professional contract. André spent his debut season as a senior player serving loans to Real Massamá. In total, he made 30 appearances for the temporary club. In the summer 2010, the midfielder was sent on loan to Belenenses, where he managed to feature in two games only. In 2011 Martins would find himself performing for another temporary club – Pinhalnovense. Over the course of the 2011/2012 season, André made 10 appearances as a starter. In 2012, the footballer was welcomed back to his parent club.
Martins has experience performing at the international level. He was invited to play for the Portugal youth national team at U-20 and U-21 levels. Since 2010 he has taken part in more than 10 matches and scored one goal.
