André Schürrle was born on 6 November 1990 in Ludwigshafen, Germany. He plays as an attacking midfielder for Chelsea.
André used to perform for the youth teams of Ludwigshafener SC and Mainz 05. In 2009 he became the Under 19 Fußball-Bundesliga champion and was asked to join the first team.
The footballer made his main team début on 8 August 2009 in a 2-2 draw with Bayer and netted his first two goals in September the same year in the match against VfL Bochum, which helped his team to run out victorious when there was almost no hope. The same week the footballer signed a professional contract with the club. He managed to score five goals and make three assists that season.
In the autumn 2010 the footballer ended his Mainz 05 spell with Bayer move on a five-year deal. The contract came into effect in the 2011/2012 season.
After two fruitful seasons for the German side the promising midfielder was lured to Chelsea in the summer 2013.
André’s first game for the Germany national youth team came in November 2009 in the 1-1 draw with Northern Ireland, where he substituted Sydney Sam in the 86th minute. In the following game, Schürrle came on the pitch and went on to San Marino’s net. In 2010 he was invited to the senior Germany squad for the first time.
