Andrea Ranocchia is a center back for Internazionale Milano. He was born on 16 February 1988 in Assisi, Italy.
Andrea’s youth career took place in the youth academies of Perugia and Arezzo where he played with the clubs’ youth squads. Andrea was one of the best students during his time at Arezzo and eventually was invited to join the club’s senior squad.
In 2006 Andrea accepted Arezzo’s offer and signed the first professional contract in his career. In the summer of that year Ranocchia became Arezzo’s first team regular. Starting from his debut season Andrea was included in the starting lineup. The head coach liked the young and talented defender and wanted to boost his potential for the sake of the team. From 2006 to 2008 Ranocchia played 56 matches and scored 1 goal for Arezzo.
In 2008 Andrea attracted attention of the top Italian clubs that wanted to acquire such a gifted and perspective player. Genoa’s contract terms were optimal and Andrea signed for the club. Right after the transfer Ranocchia was loaned out to Bari for two seasons but didn’t become a key player at the new club. From 2008 to 2010 Andrea made 34 appearances and scored 3 goals for A.S. Bari.
After returning to Genoa from loan the Italian defender played the 2010-11 season with the home club totaling 16 matches and 2 goals.
In 2011 Internazionale offered Genoa €12.5 million for Ranocchia and the latter agreed with the Italian defender becoming a full-fledged Inter player in January. At present Andrea is periodically put into the club’s starting lineup.
From 2007 to 2010 Andrea played for Italy U-21 with 14 caps and 2 goals scored. Since 2010 Andrea represents the Italian national team and has 8 caps.
