Current captain of Fortuna Andreas Lambertz is one of the most remarkable players in the team. Journalists show a vivid interest not only in Andreas’s football career but also in his private life, what makes him a public figure too – Andreas often takes part in autograph signing sessions and press conferences.
When Lambertz was a child, he attended local school. Then Andreas continued his education at a business college, but after two years of studies Lambertz realized that football was more important for him. The youth career of Andreas Lambertz was developing quite rapidly and included numerous transfers. Before Andreas started his professional career, he gained experience playing at four football clubs, among which were SG Orken-Noithausen, TSV Bayer Dormagen, Norf and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Lambertz’s professional career started in 2002 at VfR Neuss. But he played there only for half a year. That is why Andreas claimed that his career actually started at Fortuna Düsseldorf. Playing there Lambertz went through 4 divisions (from Oberliga to the first division of Bundesliga). Later he became the captain of Fortuna. Andreas is the only Bundesliga football player who managed to achieve such results.
