Andrei Ivanov was born on 8 October 1988 in Russia. Andrei began to play football at Lokomotiv Moscow club academy, later he moved to Saturn football school. At the age of 16, Ivanov joined FC Spartak Moscow.
In 2004, Andrei began to perform for the reserve team of the red-whites. The footballer made his debut in the first team in the match against FC Krylia Sovetov Samara on 26 November 2006.
In 2009, the player was loaned out to FC Tom Tomsk, and his first match took place on 15 March 2009. He performed in 19 games for FC Tom during the season, thereafter the club made an attempt to buy him, but got a refusal. The next season Andrei was loaned out again to FC Tom. There he had played for six months and went back to FC Spartak in August.
On 11 January 2011, Ivanov undersigned a three-and-a-half year contract with FC Lokomotiv Moscow. On 18 July 2012, the footballer moved on loan to FC Rostov.
In January 2014 Ivanov penned a permanent deal with Sibir Novosibirsk.
