Andrey Yeshchenko was born on February 9, 1984 in Irkutsk, Soviet Union.
After graduating from the youth ranks of FC Zenit Irkutsk Andrey started his professional football career with the local FC Zvezda where he played the 2003/04 season and scored 2 goals in 41 games. In 2005, the defender left Irkutsk and made a move to the First Division FC Khimki. There he netted 2 goals in 34 matches and got noticed by the scouts from FC Dynamo Kyiv he subsequently signed a contract with.
Yet, the player did not get a regular starting spot in Dynamo and spent all the following 5 seasons travelling from club to club on loans. In summer 2006, the defender was sent on a half-a-year loan to FC Dynamo Moscow. There he appeared 9 times and returned to Ukraine to finish the season in the reserve side of Dynamo Kyiv. In 2007, the player signed a loan deal with Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk where he spent 20 matches. In 2009, Andrey joined Arsenal Kyiv. This loan lasted till 2011, and during his two seasons there the player appeared in 72 matches and scored 1 goal.
In 2011, Yeshchenko signed for FC Volga Nizhny Novgorod on a free transfer. Here he appeared in 12 matches and in January 2012, the player was offered an agreement with FC Lokomotiv Moscow he soon signed. On March 24, 2012 he made his debut for the new squad in the away match against CSKA. He did not become a pivot in the capital club and moved to Anzhi in January 2013.
In 2005, Andrey Yeshchenko became a part of the U-21 Russia U-21 national football team and subsequently played 9 games for. The player also represented the Olympic football squad and the reserves of the main national team. On September 11, 2012 Yeshchenko made his debut for the Russia national squad in the FIFA World Cup 2012 qualifier against Israel.
