Andriy Shevchenko is a Ukrainian retired footballer, born in 1976. In 1986 he joined the youth system of Dynamo Kyiv. In 1992/93 he played for the reserves, proving himself the top scorer and on 28 October 1994 he made his first team debut in the match against Shakhtar Donetsk. He helped Dynamo Kyiv to claim Ukrainian Premier League title in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999.
In 1999 Shevchenko signed a $25-million deal with AC Milan and made his first appearance for the Italian side on 28 August 1999, which was a 2-2 draw with Lecce. In his first season there he netted 24 goals in 32 game and was named Serie A Top Scorer as well as in 2003/04. He helped Milan to win Serie A in 2003/04, in 2004/05, 2005/06 they were league runners-up. In 2003 the team won UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup, in 2005 they were UEFA Champions League finalists. In total Shevchenko made 296 appearances and netted 175 goals before he left AC Milan in 2006.
In 2006 Shevchenko moved to Premier League side Chelsea for £30.8 million and made his debut on 13 August 2006 in a 1-2 loss against Liverpool. In 2006/07 and 2007/08 from time to time he missed games due to injuries and lost his starting position. For the 2008/09 season he was loaned to AC Milan but that season wasn’t a success for him and in August 2009 he signed for Dynamo Kyiv where he played until his retirement in 2012.
Between 1995 and 2012 Shevchenko represented the Ukraine national team, earning 111 caps and scoring 48 goals.
