Andriy Voronin began his career at Chornomorets football school. Then he moved to Germany where he joined FC Borussia from the city of Mönchengladbach. At the age of 18 he made his Bundesliga debut in the match against Bayern Munich, but then Andriy spent most of his time playing in Mönchengladbach’s youth teams.
Voronin thought he lacked practice in Borussia, as a result he moved to Mainz. In three seasons Andriy appeared in 75 matches and scored 29 goals.
In 2002 Andriy Voronin was called up to the Ukraine national football team. In total he featured in 74 matches and netted 8 goals.
From 2004 till 2009 Voronin played for such football clubs as Bayer 04, Liverpool and was out on loan at Hertha BSC.
On 8 January 2010 Andriy Voronin moved to FC Dynamo Moscow. This football club offered 4 million pounds for his services.
Due to misunderstanding with the head coach of Dynamo Sergei Silkin, Voronin was loaned out to Fortuna Düsseldorf. It is an interesting fact that Silkin had to resign shortly after that case.
