Andriy Yarmolenko is a Ukrainian footballer who currently plays for Dynamo Kyiv. Andriy is nominally a striker, but he also feels comfortable as a winger. He was born on 23 October 1989 in Saint Petersburg, Soviet Union.
At the age of 13 Andriy entered Dynamo Kyiv youth system. Then he moved to Lokomotiv-ONIKS, before signing a professional contract with Desna Chernihiv in 2006. During his season-long stay at the club Yarmolenko netted 4 goals in 8 matches.
In the winter of 2007, he penned a 5-year contract with Dynamo Kyiv. Initially, Andriy played exclusively for the reserves. The promising youngster was praised for his impressive physique, goal-scoring ability and quick feet. On 11 May 2008, Yarmolenko made his debut for the first team, scoring a winner in the Dynamo Kyiv’s 2-1 victory against Vorskla Poltava.
From 2007 to 2011, Andriy Yarmolenko was repeatedly called up to the Ukraine U19 and U21 teams. On 5 September 2009, he debuted for the senior national team in the World Cup qualifier against Andorra.
