Angelo Esmael da Costa Júnior is a goalkeeper of Sampdoria football club. He was born on 12 November 1983 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Angelo has been groomed in the academy of Santo Andre. Since 2000 the keeper had been playing for the senior team and managed to clinch Copa Estado de Sao Paulo in 2003. The Brazilian managed to win Copa do Brasil and Copa Paulista de Futebol with the club. The keeper managed to play 8 out of 11 games in the 2004 Copa do Brasil.
The next year the Brazilian made his debut in Copa Libertadores fixture against Cerro Porteno. But mostly he had to cope with the role of backup for Julio Cesar Martinez and in 2006 for Marcelo Bonan.
In 2008 Angelo moved to Varese but didn’t manage to become the team’s regular goalkeeper. In the summer 2008 the Brazilian was transferred to Ancona where he faced tough competition from Salvatore Sirigu. After the Italian left the club, Angelo immediately became the first-choice keeper.
After Ancona bankruptcy Angelo joined Sampdoria as a free agent becoming the first foreign goalkeeper in the history of the Blucerchiati.
