Anthony Annan is a defensive midfielder who is under contract with Schalke 04. He was born on July 21, 1986 in the city of Accra. Anthony is also a relation of Kofi Annan, famous diplomat, former Secretary-General of the United Nations.
In 2003 Anthony joined Sekondy Hasaacas where he spent two years. In 2005 he joined the main squad of Hearts of Oak, the best in the championship of Ghana.
In 2007 Anthony moved to Norway to play for the local Start for one year. He managed only 11 appearances through a season though.
The next stage of Annan’s career was spent at another club from Norway named Stabæk where he spent 12 games and then joined Rosenborg. This club appeared to be more ambitious and Anthony managed to achieve a record of 57 appearances throughout 3 seasons.
In 2011 Anthony became a transfer target for a German side Schalke 04 where he moved shortly. The player didn’t manage to break through to the main squad and as a result he was sent on loan to a Dutch side Vitesse. In the summer of 2012 the player joined Osasuna, also on loan.
The footballer made his official debut for the national team of Ghana on March 27, 2008 when his side played against Brazil. During the whole period of performance for the national team he played 50 games and scored once.
