Antonio Amaya Carazo is a Spanish footballer playing as a central defender.
Amaya started his youth playing career in a local club San Cristóbal de los Ángeles. After maturing as a professional he joined Rayo Vallecano in 2002. Having spent some time for the reserve team Antonio then got promoted to the main squad where he played for six consecutive years interrupted by a loan spell to a club San Sebastián de los Reyes.
After the loan Amaya became an integral part of Rayo’s defensive line helping his side regain their Segunda status in 2007/08 where they struggled for a mid-table position. However through that season Antonio was a rare starter and appeared in less than a half Rayo’s matches (18 out of 42).
On August 14, 2009 Amaya signed a three-year deal with an English Premier League side Wigan Athletic. He wasn’t used in the league games there but at the same time he scored a consolation goal in a 1-4 defeat against Blackpool in the League Cup. Amaya spent the season 2010/11 at his former team Rayo Vallecano on a season-long loan and made 28 appearances helping the side return to La Liga.
On July 18, 2011 Amaya announced about his move to Real Betis from Wigan Athletic signing a three-year contract with the Spanish club. At the end of a three-year spell, Amaya returned to his former club, Rayo Vallecano.
