A professional footballer António Filipe Norinho de Carvalho plays for Paços de Ferreira as a goalkeeper. He was born on 14 April 1985 in Fous de Souza, Portugal.
In 2004, he started trying his hand at professional football at Gondomar, where he was groomed during a long time. At first António made no appearances for the first team. The head coach considered that the young footballer hadn’t enough playing experience for performing at the senior level.
The 2006/2007 season turned to be more fortunate for Carvalho, as he was let on the field as a starter few times. The following two seasons were lined with more frequent appearances. During that time the goalkeeper revealed his talent and gained the coach’s confidence.
In 2009, scouts from Paços de Ferreira noticed António and offered him a contract. The footballer took the proposal and in the summer 2009 he became the team’s official member. The goalkeeper spent his first three seasons for a new squad as a substitute player, making only 4 appearances as a starter. He continues to perform for the club now.
