Arnold Makengo Mvuemba is a midfielder of Lyon. He was born on 28 January 1985 in Alençon, France.
His junior career began in 1998 after he had gone through preliminary tests for attending Rennes. Mvuemba started to learn football in its minutest details. During the years in youth system, he performed for one of the club’s youth squads, where he gained playing practice.
Thanks to Arnold’s encouraging display, he was promoted to the Reserves of the club in 2002. And in a year he started to try his hand at professional football, as his first four-year contract was signed. From 2003 to 2007, he began make appearances more frequently, both in the starting eleven and in the reserve team. The head coach believed that would help Mvuemba to show stellar performance. In total, he scored 12 goals in 98 games for the club.
In January 2007, Arnold was sent on loan to Portsmouth from Premier League. He featured in 7 matches during the first half of the year, but this small number didn’t discourage the management of the temporary club from buying out Mvuemba’s contract. In the summer 2007, when the affair was settled, the player became an official member of the club. During the term of the contract, the footballer made only occasional appearances and ended his contract with netting two goals in 14 matches only.
In the summer 2009, he joined French club Lorient from Ligue 1. He performed for the club during 3 seasons, where he took part in 71 matches and contributed more than four goals.
He moved to Lyon in 2012.
He was capped for the France national team at U-21 level from 2005 to 2006. In 2005 Mvuemba got a cap for the DR Congo national team.
