Artur Boruc is a goalkeeper of Southampton football club. He was born on 20 February 1980 in Siedlce, Poland.
Boruc’s professional career took off in 1998, when he signed his first contract with Pogon Siedlce. He played 12 matches as team’s first goalkeeper during his debut 1998/1999 season.
In 1999 Artur moved to Legia Warsaw, which is one of the most prestigious clubs in Poland. He made a few appearances in 1999 and in summer of 2000 was loaned out to Dolcan Zabki, where he played 12 games during the season. After returning to his parent club, the footballer occasionally appeared in the starting lineup and found the net one time in the total of 69 matches. In January 2005, Boruc became a player of Celtic. He made nine appearances during the first half of the year, but it was enough to earn the trust of the coach and the team’s board.
In the summer 2005, Artur penned a contract with Celtic on continuing basis and later became the team’s first-choice goalkeeper. He took part in 153 Scottish Premier League fixtures and became one of the most skillful keepers in the history of the famous club.
In 2010 Fiorentina made a generous offer to the player and he moved to Italy. Since 2010, Artur has been Fiorentina’s regular goalkeeper, who took part in more than 62 matches of his new club. In September 2012 he moved up to Great Britain to join Southampton FC.
Since 2004, Boruc was capped 46 times for the Polish national team.
