Augusto Matías Fernández was born in 1986 in Pergamino, Argentina, and currently he plays for a Spanish team Celta de Vigo as a right winger.
An Argentine football is a product of River Plate’s youth system and began his professional career with the senior team. He made his debut in January 2006, as a substitute in a 5–0 win against Tiro Federal. As a part of the team he won the 2008 Clausura title.
The season 2009/10 Fernández spent with AS Saint-Etienne and for the following season he returned from France to join Argentine Primera División team Vélez Sársfield Fernández, signing a three-year deal.
Augusto helped his team to win the 2011 Clausura, making 17 appearances and scoring 4 goals. He also helped Vélez to finish the Copa Libertadores semi-finalists with 4 goals in 10 matches.
In August 2012, Fernández moved to recently-promoted Spanish side Celta Vigo on a four-year contract.
