A Cameroonian footballer Aurélien Chedjou plays a defender for Galatasaray as well as for the Cameroon national team.
His career started in the local football club in his hometown. In 2002 the defender caught the eye of the scouts from Spanish Villarreal CF but they offered him only the role of a substitute player. Things being as they were did not satisfy an ambitious player.
A year later Aurélien moved to France where he began to perform professionally at first in Pau FC, then in AJ Auxerre and FC Rouen but there he did not manage to stay for a long time.
In 2007 Chedjou was awarded a contract with Lille. He made his league debut in the new club on 1 December 2007 against Marseille. As time passed the defender was given a more prominent role within the team and in the 2008/09 season he entered the major squad. That season he appeared in 28 matches with the team. In the season 2012/2013 the Cameroonian was voted the best Ligue 1 defender and was immediately offered a new contract with Turkish champions Galatasaray.
The player represented Cameroon in 4 matches at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Since 2009 he has been the member of the Cameroon national football team. In 2010 Aurélien Chedjou participated in the African Cup of Nations and in the FIFA World Cup.
