Aykut Demir was born on 22 October 1988 in the family of Turkish migrant workers in Bergen op Zoom, the Netherlands. He began his youth career in 1995 playing for SVDOSKO youth team and in 1998 he switched to NAC Breda where went on his senior career, signing two-and-a-half-year in 2005. In six months he agreed to a contract extension for one year. On 14 January 2006 the player made his debut for the team in the match against Roda JC Kerkrade, ended in a 4-0 loss to Roda.
From 2007 till 2009 Demir starred for SBV Excelsior thus scoring 2 goals in 50 total appearances. In 2009, the defender moved to Turkey and continued his career playing for Gençlerbirliği S.K.
Aykut Demir represented the Turkey national team at U17, U18, U19, U21 levels and Turkey A2 team.
