Bafétimbi Gomis is a French footballer of Senegalese origin.
Bafétimbi joined the Saint-Étienne youth team by 2000. In the 2002-2004 seasons he featured for the club in the Championnat de France amateur. In 2003/04 he made 11 appearances in Ligue 2. Gomis spent the second half of the season on loan to the club Troyes that played in the Ligue 2 at that time. After this the footballer became one of the most valuable players of Saint-Étienne that was promoted to Ligue 1. In 2009/10 he was already playing as a striker for Lyon. During five years with Lyon Gomis scored 91 goals in 239 matches.
In the summer 2014 he moved to a Welsh side Swansea City.
Despite the fact that he was playing for the France national team in the 2000s, in 2008 he could not decide whether he should appear for Senegal or for France. On 18 March the head coach Raymond Domenech included the footballer in preliminary list of the squad for UEFA Euro 2008. After Gomis earned a win to his team in the match against Ecuador he was finally named among the men to fight for the national team. In that tournament the footballer appeared as a substitute in matches with the Netherlands and Romania.
