Bakary Sako is a midfielder of Wolverhampton Wanderers. He was born on 26 April 1988 in Ivry-sur-Seine, Paris, France.
Bakary joined the academy of Châteauroux in 2001 and got a chance to make his competitive début in the last Ligue 2 match of the 2005/2006 season versus Bastia. After the end of the season, the footballer penned his first professional two-year contract and became a regular soon.
Sako’s first goal for the club came in the game versus Brest in 2007. The midfielder took part in 41 fixtures and found the net nine times for Châteauroux from 2006 till 2009, when his contract expired. On 9 July 2009, Bakary signed for Saint-Étienne on a free transfer and fired 12 goals in 106 matches for the new team during three years.
In August 2012, the footballer sealed a deal with English side Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Sako was called up to the Mali national U-17 squad in 2005, but he decided to perform for the France national team and took part in the 2007 European Under-19 Championship, where the young ‘Tricolores’ reached the semifinals. On 11 February 2009, the midfielder made his début for the France national U-21 squad in the friendly against Tunisia. He contributed his first U-21 goal in the 2009 Toulon Tournament game versus Qatar.
