Barry Bannan is a midfielder of Crystal Palace. He was born on 1 December 1989 in Airdrie, Scotland.
Barry’s youth career took off in the academy of Lenzie Youth Club, where he had primary preparation before continuing his training in other place. In 1999 representatives of Albion Rovers invited the young footballer to train in their youth system, which gave Bannan a chance to make a qualitative leap and reach the new level. During three years the midfielder learned football in all its minutest details before he drew the attention of a top-flight Scottish club.
In 2002 Celtic took an interest in the young talent and sent their scouts to see the footballer in action. After getting positive feedback, the management of the club made the capture of the midfielder one of their main priorities. Barry trained in the new academy till 2004, when he moved to English side Aston Villa and spent another four years in the youth system of the new team before making a full-scale senior start.
In 2008 Bannan penned his first professional contract. The footballer was lucky to begin his performance with the main team of ‘Villans’ in his début season. After making several appearances, Barry was sent on loan to Derby County, where he netted one goal in ten games during the second half of the season. In the summer 2009, the midfielder completed a move on loan to Blackpool and featured in 20 games of the temporary team. From the summer 2010 till the summer 2011, the footballer stayed with his parent club and came on the pitch rather often. In 2011 he finalized a move on loan to Leeds United.
In 2013 Bannan switched for a newly promoted club Crystal Palace.
From 2009 till 2010, Bannan was capped ten times and contributed one goal for the Scotland national U-21 squad. From 2010, the midfielder took part in 12 games of the full national team.
