Barry Maguire is a player capable of performing both at the position of a defensive midfielder and a defender. He was born on 27 October 1989 in Tiel, Netherlands. The footballer has a dual citizenship (Dutch and Irish).
Barry started to play football in amateur Theole, located in his native town. At the age of 16, the player became a trainee of Den Bosch, where his professional career took off. Maguire netted six goals in 66 fixtures for the club and completed a move to Utrecht in 2008. Barry spent three seasons with the club and managed to find the net one time in 50 matches before transferring to VVV-Venlo, where he made 50 appearances and fired 6 goals by the summer 2013. After that he switched for Den Bosch.
Maguire’s international career started with the Republic of Ireland national U-16 squad, because the footballer’s father was an Irishman. Barry made his début for the team in 2005, but decided to perform for the Netherlands one year later.
On 27 January 2009, the player was invited to play for Ireland once again, but he rejected the offer. However, in January 2012, Maguire changed his decision and expressed his readiness to represent his father’s land in Euro 2012.
