Baruch Dego is an Israeli-Ethiopian midfielder, born on 26 March 1981 in Ethiopia.
Dego got his primary football education at the youth football academy of FC Ironi Ashdod. In 2000 he moved to FC Maccabi Tel Aviv and helped his new team to win an Israeli championship and lift three Israeli State Cups during his 5-year spell with the club. He was the only Maccabi player to make a mark during the 2004/2005 UEFA Champions League group stage, as he scored two goals against Ajax in a 2-1 win over the Dutch side, helped his team to earn a 1-1 draw against FC Juventus with a penalty kick and scored a consolation goal during a 1-5 defeat at hands of FC Bayern Munchen.
In August 2003 the club fans accused Dego of the first-team captain Avi Nimni’s dismissal and Baruch’s stepfather voiced his criticism of the club’s supporters and called his adoptee to leave the Maccabi club. As a result Dego moved to FC Hapoel Tel-Aviv at the end of the 2004/2005 season.
The player spent three successful seasons with the Hapoel, adding two more Israeli State Cups to his career achievements. In 2008 he was transferred to FC Maccabi Natanya, which was coached by the legendary German footballer Lothar Matthäus at that time. There he spent a couple of months featuring in just one official fixture, before leaving the club as a free agent.
The same year he returned to his boyhood club FC Ashdod, which he left at the beginning of 2010, adding 36 appearances and 1 goal to his career stats.
After two brief spells at FC Nea Salamis Famagusta (2010) and FC Apollon Limassol (2010-2011) Boruch joined FC Ironi Ramat HaSharon on 6 July 2011. In 2013 the player moved to Hapoel Rishon.
