A Spanish footballer Benjamín Martínez Martínez, also known as Benja, performs as a forward for Girona FC. Benjamín was born on 23 August 1987 in Terrassa, Barcelona.
Martínez started his junior career at Sant Cugat. Later on he was selected for the youth team of Mercantil. In 2005, after passing all the tests, the forward was drafted to the youth department of Damm, where the last year of his junior career was spent.
In 2006, the footballer signed his first professional contract with Espanyol. But he made no appearances for the club, as hardly had he put pen to paper of the contract, when he was loaned out by Europa. Benja spent two seasons defending the colors of the temporary club. The spell was lined with occasional appearances made both as a member of the starting eleven and as a substitute player. Martínez managed to produce a solid performance and was soon noticed by Barcelona.
In 2008, the forward was selected for the B team of Barcelona. In 2008, he served a loan at Reus. Benja made 18 appearances and racked up eight goals and returned to Barcelona. Altogether, he made 62 appearances and netted 17 goals for the reserves.
In the summer 2011, a move to Girona happened. Martínez immediately established himself as a member of the first XI. The debut season at the club was lined with 12 balls amassed in 46 matches.
