Benson Mhlongo is a footballer from South Africa. He was born in 1980 in Alexandra and having graduated from the youth academy of SuperSport United in 1998 he joined Alexandra United on a loan deal and after that he was loaned to City Sharks. In 2001 Benson Mhlongo moved to BidVest Wits and played for them till 2005 when he joined Mamelodi Sundowns. In 2008 the footballer switched to Orlando Pirates with whom he stayed till 2012, when he moved to Platinum Stars.
From 2003 to 2009 Benson Mhlongo represented the South Africa national team, participated in the African Cup of Nations in 2008 but failed to compete in the 2010 FIFA World Cup due to an injury. All in all he earned 36 caps playing for Bafana Bafana.
