The player’s professional career began in 1997 when he signed a five-year contract with AS Nancy. He competed with the first and the second goalkeepers for the place in the major squad. Bertrand made 94 appearances for the club.
In 2002 a French goalkeeper received a call-up from R. Charleroi SC from Belgium. The player signed a lasting contract and starred for the club until 2006 when he was given out on loan.
In 2006 the club’s management decided to loan Laquait to Recreativo playing in Segunda División B. A French player participated only in 9 matches for the interim club.
At the end of a loan spell in 2007 the goalkeeper returned to Belgian club where he stayed until 2009. For 6 years spent in Charleroi Bertrand featured in 117 matches and even managed to score 1 goal.
In 2009 the player was called up to Évian that promised him the place in the major squad. For the goalkeeper it was the facility to get permanent playing practice. In the summer of 2009 he accepted the offer and signed a long-term contract with Évian to which he is now bound.
