Billy Sharp is a striker of Southampton. He was born on 5 February 1986 in Sheffield, England.
In 2004 Billy graduated from the academy of Sheffield United and officially became a senior player of the club after penning a contract. Sharp was craving for his professional start during many years he spent in the youth system and, finally, his career took off. Billy made two appearances for the club in his first season and went on loan in January 2005. The footballer finalized a six-month loan deal with Rushden & Diamonds, featured in 16 games and netted nine goals for the temporary club during his spell.
In 2005 Sharp transferred to Scunthorpe United and immediately got under the wave of luck, because the head coach asked him to join the starting XI for the first fixtures of his first season in the new club. Billy managed to amass 53 goals in 82 fixtures during two years, which became one of the best results in the history of ‘The Iron’. In 2007 Sharp left for his boyhood club Sheffield United. From the summer 2007 till the summer 2008, the footballer made 51 appearances and fired eight goals for ‘The Blades’.
When Billy became a player of Doncaster Rovers in 2009, he began to score as much as he used to. The English striker belted 40 goals into the net in 82 games, which attracted the attention of various top-flight clubs. In January 2012, Sharp penned a contract with Southampton, which was struggling for gaining the promotion to the EPL. The footballer helped the club to achieve that goal by chipping in nine important goals in 17 fixtures of the second half of the season.
In 2012/2013 Sharp played on loan at Nottingham Forest.
