Blagoy Georgiev is a Bulgarian midfielder born on 21 December 1981 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
His professional career began at his hometown club FC Slavia Sofia in 1999 after Blagoy was groomed at the club’s youth system. He made his debut in a 3-1 victory over Pirin Blagoevgrad in October 1999 and scored his maiden goal against Beroe Stara Zagora securing a 1-1 draw in the dying minutes of the match. Georgiev sparked furor scoring four goals in a sparkling 5-2 win over Chernomorets Burgas. All in all, he made a total of 46 goals in 172 appearances during his seven-year stint at Slavia. The midfielder pulled off an outstanding 2006/07 season leading the club to the Serbian SuperLiga and Serbian Cup wins.
In between 2006 and 2008, Georgiev played on loan at the Spanish club Deportivo Alavés, then at the Serbian Red Star Belgrade and in the 2007/08 season he found himself on loan at MSV Duisburg.
Since 2009 Blagoy played for Terek Grozny in the Russian Premier League. He made his league debut in the 2009 season opener against Spartak Nalchik and scored his maiden Russian goal in a 3-2 victory over Zenit Saint Petersburg. In 2013 the Bulgarian international moved to Amkar Perm.
Blagoy was called up to the Bulgarian U-21 team, and since 2004 to 2007 he made 50 international appearances and scored 5 goals for the senior Bulgarian side.
