Francisco de Borja Fernández Fernández or simply Borja was born in 1981 in Ourense, Spain. Currently he plays for Getafe CF as a defensive midfielder.
He graduated from Real Madrid’s youth system and went through the C and the B teams before he joined the first team in 2003. Borja made his debut for the first team in September in a 1-1 draw against Villarreal CF. During his first season with the club he featured in 15 La Liga matches and in the second season he appeared in 8 games.
For the 2005/06 season the Spanish footballer was loaned to RCD Mallorca and in 2006 he switched to Real Valladolid. Borja helped them to gain promotion to La Liga after a three-year absence and became a regular starter. During the 2009/10 season he made 31 appearances but Valladolid couldn’t avoid relegation. By the end of May he signed a five-year deal with Getafe CF and in August he was loaned to Deportivo de La Coruña on a season-long loan. After that Borja returned to Getafe.
