Boštjan Cesar plays as a defender for Serie A side Chievo. He was born on 9 July, 1982 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Cesar’s youth career started at local Olimpija Ljubljana football academy. A young footballer trained at the academy for many years and played for Olimpija youth team, taking part in various youth championships. In the late 90s, Boštjan joined Dinamo Zagreb youth system and moved to Croatia. He spent some time there preparing for the start of his professional career.

The Slovenian defender participated in several matches, but did not fit into the first team, only occasionally appearing in the starting lineup. In 2007, Boštjan was loaned to West Bromwich Albion for the 2007/08 season, totaling 20 matches and scoring one goal. In 2009 Cesar signed a contract with Grenoble Foot and moved to France, where he spent one year. During the 2009/10 season Cesar featured for 40 matches and scored 1 goal. In 2010 the club sold Boštjan to Italian Chievo Verona, where he made 65 appearances and netted 3 goals as of September 2012.
