Çağdaş was born in Izmir, Turkey. He went in for football at the age of eight. In 1998, Çağdaş started training at the youth section of Altay SK.
In 2000, he signed a professional contract with Marmaris Belediye GSK. In less than a year Çağdaş joined Altay SK for two seasons. The 2003/2004 season the footballer played for Denizlispor. In 2004, he made a move to Beşiktaş for a transfer fee of $1 million. From 2006 to 2012 Çağdaş played for such clubs as Trabzonspor, Energie, Basel and Mersin İdmanyurdu.
On June 7, 2012 Çağdaş became a player of Akhisar Belediyespor. He plays as a defender and his contract with the club runs until May 31, 2014.
Çağdaş was called up to the national football team in 2003/2004. He made his international debut on February 18, 2004 in the match against the Denmark national football team. The footballer scored his only goal for the Turkey national football team on March 31, 2004 in the match against Croatia.
