Carlos Alexandre de Souza Silva, also known as Carlão, is a Portuguese striker born on 1 August 1986 in Duque de Caxias, Brazil.
In 2008 Carlão signed his first professional contract with São Cristóvão. During half a season the striker took part in several matches with the club but he was unable to cement a starting XI position so in the summer 2008 he was sent on loan to Duque Caxias. During the season the Brazilian footballer made enough appearances and proved to be a reliable player who had a right to be a regular first team member.
In the summer 2009 Carlão sealed an agreement with the Portuguese outfit União Leiria where he spent half a year. During this time he managed to score 25 goals in 54 games playing in the starting line-up. In January 2011 Carlão penned a contract with the Japanese club Kashima Antlers where he netted once in 5 matches in a short period of time. In the same year he was on loan at the Swiss club Xamax where he featured in 2 matches. In the summer 2011 the footballer was loaned to Braga where he played 11 matches in the season. In 2012 Carlão signed a permanent contract with the club but in the summer 2013 switched for Pacos de Ferreira. Half a year later Carlao moved to China to join Shijiazhuang Yongchang.
